Vacheron Constantin invited its guests to a memorable evening held in honour of Brigitte Lefèvre. Director of Ballet at the Paris National Opera for the past 20 years, she is preparing to hand over to choreographer Benjamin Millepied. Following the two George Balanchine and Benjamin Millepied ballets, the some 400 guests were treated to a grand première in the form of a gala dinner on the stage of the Opéra Bastille.
By lending its support to the most prestigious cultural institutions, Vacheron Constantin’s activities play an active role in promoting contemporary expression of skills passed down over the centuries.
Sponsor of the Paris National Opera since 2007, the Manufacture Vacheron Constantin naturally partnered this exceptional evening organised under the auspices of the Association pour le rayonnement de l’Opéra national de Paris (AROP – Friends of the Paris Opera and Ballet). After the performances of Le Palais de Cristal (choreography: George Balanchine; costumes: Christian Lacroix) and Daphnis & Chloé (choreography: Benjamin Millepied; decor: Daniel Buren), Juan-Carlos Torres, CEO of Vacheron Constantin, reaffirmed the watch Manufacture’s attachment to the world of arts and culture and ballet in particular because aside from its support of the Paris National Opera, Vacheron Constantin also partners the New York City Ballet, the Royal School of Ballet in London and the Ballet du Grand Théâtre in Geneva.
Transmission and excellence were the guiding themes of an evening characterised by movement and elegance. Juan-Carlos Torres emphasised the elements shared by ballet and watchmaking, especially insisting on one point: “That emotion which – over and above technique – moves us, literally carries us away and renders all creation profoundly human.”
The architect Bernard Tschumi to whom the Centre Pompidou is currently devoting a retrospective which is due to run until July 28th 2014, was also present. The renowned architect has won the architecture tender for the construction of the Manufacture Vacheron Constantin at Plan-les-Ouates (Geneva), inaugurated in 2004. Bernard Tschumi is currently working on the expansion project of the Manufacture Vacheron Constantin in Plan-les-Ouates (Geneva).See all the latest news
